Sometimes murder is just a way to pass the time.
Two wealthy law-school students go on trial for murder in this version of the Leopold-Loeb case.
The 1924 Leopold and Loeb murder case, in which two young men (both homosexuals) killed a boy basically for the thrill of it, and to outwit authorities, has been adapted for the screen two other times. Alfred Hitchcock's 1948 Rope, and Tom Kalin's 1992 Swoon. This intense drama stars Dean Stockwell and Bradford Dillman as the two college students involved in a relationship that culminates in the murder of a 14-year-old boy. The cold and calculating Artie (Dillman) dominates the more sensitive Judd (Stockwell) while their "perfect crime" quickly unravels. The homosexuality is inferred, enough so that critics at the time characterized the two "dirty little degenerates" as homosexual lovers.
