A drama centered on the relationship between two brothers, one gay and one straight.
This well-acted family drama centers on the relationship between two brothers, Ryan (Feore), a conservative attorney and Theo (Cubitt), a troubled writer with a drug problem. When their father dies, the two brothers are forced to re-examine their dynamic as Ryan reveals that he is not only gay but has AIDS. On the surface these two guys have very little in common, but both are damaged goods, and their needs bring them together. Theo has a terrific girlfriend, Sarah (West) - a medical resident who has had it with Theo's drug problems. And Ryan has never had a long-term lover because of his closetedness. The film centers on the intense relationship these two men build as Theo becomes a caretaker to Ryan.
While the film is strongly in the genre we refer to as "heartwarming" there are some truly moving moments in this well-directed and photographed film. A gripping drama that one should watch with hankies nearby.
